Munawar Faruqui Controversies

In April 2020, Munawar faced backlash for jokes about Ram and Sita and references to the Godhra massacre in his popular YouTube video. Complaints were filed against him in Mumbai, leading to negative reactions on Twitter with the hashtag “#ArrestMunawarFaruqui.” Despite this, Munawar apologized for offending Hindu sentiments.

Munawar remained calm when accused of hurting Hindu sentiments, as no video evidence supported the claim. Many comedians criticized his arrest, and he was released on bail in February.

On 1st January 2021, Munawar got arrested during a show in Indore for making disrespectful comments about Hindu idols and mocking Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister.
