Roger Petersen has built a career of more than 30 years across Canadian radio and television, from local reporting to national anchor desks.

Early career: Radio beginnings

After graduating from Seneca College, Roger started his broadcasting career in radio. He worked at several stations before making the move to television news.

1999 to 2004: Citytv Toronto reporter, anchor, and Autoshop host

In 1999, Roger joined Citytv Toronto, taking on a variety of roles. He worked as a reporter and anchor for CityNews (formerly CityPulse) and hosted the car show Autoshop.

In 2002, he became the first morning show reporter on Breakfast Television Toronto, contributing to the network’s flagship morning programme.

2004 to 2006: Lead anchor at Citytv Vancouver

In 2004, Roger moved to Citytv Vancouver and became the station’s lead male anchor. From 2005, he co-anchored CityNews at Six alongside Julie Nolin.

He remained in that role until the Vancouver newscast was cancelled on July 12, 2006.

2006 to 2008: CTV Toronto reporter and anchor

After the Vancouver cancellation, Roger returned to his hometown and joined CTV Toronto. He worked there as a reporter and anchor for about two years.

On July 4, 2018, Citytv announced Roger as the new co-host of Breakfast Television Toronto with Dina Pugliese.

In September 2025, Roger joined BNN Bloomberg as an anchor, stepping into The Street from 8 to 9 a.m. Eastern following the retirement of longtime host Paul Bagnell in July 2025.

He also currently hosts Market Call at noon, filling in for regular host Andrew Bell. Roger works alongside BNN Bloomberg colleagues Amanda Lang, Merella Fernandez, Lindsay Biscaia, and Andrew McCreath.
