2000: Starts in Radio at AM800 CKLW Windsor
Annette began her broadcasting career in 2000 in her hometown of Windsor, Ontario. She worked as a Reporter and Anchor for AM800 CKLW, the well-known Windsor talk radio station.
2000 to 2002: Weekend Newscaster at News Talk Radio 1290 CJBK London
After Windsor, Annette moved to London, Ontario, where she became the Weekend Newscaster on News Talk Radio 1290 CJBK. Her newscasts also aired on Bell’s three other London radio stations.
2001 to 2002: First Television Job at The New PL London
At age 21, Annette landed her first television job as a reporter at The New PL in London (which became CTV London). She has said that this role gave her the small-market foundation she needed to grow.
2002: Moves to The New WI Windsor (Now CTV Windsor)
In 2002, Annette returned closer to home and joined The New WI, which is now CTV Windsor, as a Videographer and Anchor.
She learned to edit tape-to-tape on bulky machines, later reflecting on how much the industry has changed.
2006: Joins A News Ottawa
In November 2006, Annette moved to Ottawa and joined A News Ottawa as a Videographer.
She quickly moved into on-air roles, working as a Weekend News Anchor while continuing to file stories throughout the week.
She fell in love with Ottawa soon after arriving in 2007, living along the Rideau Canal and calling the city her favourite in Canada.
2009: Becomes News Anchor on CTV Morning Live Ottawa
After A Morning was rebranded, Annette became a News Anchor on CTV Morning Live Ottawa in 2009.
In this role, she read seven newscasts across the four-hour show and interviewed CFRA radio hosts for top stories and business updates.
She also occasionally hosted a segment called Top Talkers, produced and hosted a two-hour special on sexual abuse against children, and reported on concussions in sport.
2011: Reports From the Philippines for World Vision
In 2011, Annette travelled to the Philippines to file stories on the work being done by World Vision.
