Ramesh Babu helped his family overcome the financial crisis by doing odd jobs like selling newspapers.
Ramesh Babu is known as the ‘billionaire barber’ in Bengaluru and he has the largest collection of luxury cars in India, owning around 400 luxury cars, including Rolls Royces, Mercedes Maybachs, Range Rovers, and Bentleys.
Ramesh Babu’s father was a barber who died when Ramesh Babu was just 7 years old. His mother loaned the salon to an uncle for Rs. 5 due to financial difficulties. Ramesh Babu did odd jobs, including selling newspapers, to help the family. There were times when they didn’t have enough money to eat properly. Ramesh Babu started his salon business in the 1990s and began to earn good money.
After starting his salon business, Ramesh Babu saved money to buy a Maruti Omni car for rental purposes. This led to him starting a car rental and self-drive business called Ramesh Tours and Travels. He later became the first person in Bengaluru to offer luxury cars for rent after purchasing a Mercedes E-Class sedan a few months later.
Ramesh Babu owns many luxury cars, including a Rolls Royce Ghost worth Rs 3 crore, BMWs, Jaguars, Bentley luxury sedans, and a Maybach S600 worth Rs 2.6 crore.
Celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aamir Khan, and Sachin Tendulkar have used Ramesh Babu’s car service, according to him.
