Tanushree Dutta, a Bollywood actress, has been in the news a lot lately. People talk about her because of the Me Too movement and legal matters. Tanushree Dutta is an Indian actress who has acted in many good movies and also represented India in the Miss Universe 2004 contest where she was in the top 10.

Tanushree was born in Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, in March 1984. She finished college in Pune. In 2003, Tanushree won the Femina Miss India pageant and then represented India at the Miss Universe 2004 Pageant where she was the sixth runner-up.

Tanushree Dutta started acting in a Tamil film called ‘Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai’ and entered Bollywood in 2005 with ‘Chocolate’ and ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’. In 2006, she appeared in the song ‘Jab Kabhi’ from ’36 China Town’. 

Her last film was ‘Apartment’ in 2010. Tanushree acted in several Hindi films from 2005-2010 including ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’, ‘Bhagam Bhag’, and ‘Dhol’. Despite working with big stars and in hit films, Tanushree Dutta’s career didn’t take off as expected. So, she left acting and stayed out of the spotlight.

In 2018, after staying away from the glamour world for some years, Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of sexually harassing her during the shooting of the 2009 film ‘Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss’. Her accusations against the veteran actor helped bring the Me Too movement to India.

In a 2013 interview, Tanushree said she had depression after ‘Horn ‘Ok’ Please and took a break to recover. She went to an ashram for one and a half years and then to Ladakh where she learned Buddhist meditation. She also practices Vipassana meditation. Tanushree Dutta has now left the film industry completely and as of September 2018, she lives in the US permanently.
