Poonam Bajwa began acting in 2005 with the Telugu film Modati Cinema, where she worked with Navdeep.
In 2006, she acted in Premante Inthe with Navdeep again. Later in 2006, she appeared in Boss, sharing screen space with Nagarjuna Akkineni and Nayanthara (with Shriya Saran in a special appearance).
That same year, she entered Kannada cinema with Thangigagi, alongside Darshan and Shwetha Chengappa.
In 2007, she acted in the Telugu romantic drama Veduka with Raja.
In 2008, she appeared in Parugu in a cameo, in a cast led by Allu Arjun, Sheela Kaur, and Prakash Raj.
