Kolkata Knight Riders did well in the IPL 2024. They won the IPL Final match against Sunrisers Hyderabad and got the trophy. This is the third time they’ve won it, the last times being in 2012 and 2014.
Andre Russell took three wickets, Vaibhav Arora and Mitchell Starc took two each, and that helped Kolkata Knight Riders limit Sunrisers Hyderabad to only 113 runs. Then Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer played great and helped Kolkata Knight Riders win by eight wickets.
After the match, the owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kavya Maran, cried while waving to the crowd. This video became really popular on social media.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders celebrated a lot after their win. Venkatesh Iyer thanked Abhishek Nayar and said he played a big role in the team’s success by building a strong Indian core. He also thanked the management and the coaches for their support.
This win is special because it’s been ten years since Kolkata Knight Riders last won the IPL. Gautam Gambhir, who used to play for them, was their mentor this time. Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh both mentioned how Gambhir’s guidance helped them win the trophy.
