Asin Thottumkal, popularly known as Asin, is a former Indian actress, born on October 26, 1985 (40 years old) in Kochi, Kerala, India.

She mainly worked in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films, and is also known as the “Queen of Kollywood”.

Asin started her film career with the Malayalam movie Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka (2001). She got her first big success with the Telugu film Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi (2003), which won her the Filmfare Best Telugu Actress Award.

She later acted in hit films like Ghajini (2005), Varalaru (2006), Pokkiri (2007), and Dasavathaaram (2008). For her role in the Tamil film Ghajini, she won the Filmfare Best Tamil Actress Award.

Asin Early Life and Education 

Asin Thottumkal was born in Kochi, Kerala, into a Syro-Malabar Catholic Christian family.

She was supposed to be named Mary after her paternal grandmother. However, her father named her Asin, which means “pure” or “without blemish”.

She started learning Bharatanatyam at the age of three and later also trained in Kathakali and folk dance forms.

Asin Thottumkal began her career as a model before stepping into films. She worked in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi cinema, and is one of the few Indian actresses to win Filmfare Awards in three different languages.

Modeling Beginnings (Early 2000s)
