She was born on 12 April 1948 (Age: 76 years old) Rita Braver in her early life started working as a copy girl at WWL-TV in New Orleans.

Before joining CBS in 1972 Rita gained experience as a copy girl for making an excellent career in journalism. While working at WWL-TV she got married to her husband lawyer Robert B. Barnett, in the same year when she joined CBS.

Rati Braver got married on April 10, 1972, to lawyer Robert B. Barnett. They both met in college. The couple is blessed with a beautiful daughter Meredith Jane Barnett. Rita Braver, a well-known news correspondent for CBS, completed 50 years at CBS with different challenging roles and five Emmy Awards for her investigative reporting skills. Braver joined CBS in 1972 as a news desk editor and spent 11 years producing and reporting for CBS Evening News With Dan Rather, 48 Hours, Face The Nation, CBS News This Morning, Street Stories, and Public Eye.

Law Correspondent

From 1983 to 1993 Rita spent a decade working as a law correspondent for CBS. She primarily reported for the CBS Evening News. Rita’s beat included the Justice Department, the Supreme Court, the DEA, and the FBI. 

Braver also had success in covering the Iran-Contra Case, which included the trials of former National Security Council Official Oliver North. Rita didn’t stop there; she continued and reported the drug trial of former Washington, D.C. mayor Marion Barry.
