He was 3 when he was diagnosed with a rare kidney cancer.

Afterwards, Ayaan had surgery and multiple rounds of chemotherapy, and Emraan had to step away from his career.

Before becoming an actor, Emraan Hashmi worked as an assistant director on Vikram Bhatt’s horror film Raaz (2002).

He was initially set to make his Bollywood debut with Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar (2001) alongside Ameesha Patel, but was rejected for the role.

His Acting Debut in Footpath (2003)

Hashmi made his acting debut in Vikram Bhatt’s crime-thriller Footpath (2003), playing gangster Raghu Shrivastav.

His Career Breakthroughs (2004-2006)

In 2004, Hashmi achieved his breakthrough with Anurag Basu’s erotic thriller Murder, co-starring Mallika Sherawat.

The film was a commercial success, grossing ₹250 million and earning him the tag of “Serial Kisser.”

In the same year, he starred in the musical romance Tumsa Nahin Dekha opposite Dia Mirza.

In 2005, Hashmi appeared in Zeher with Bipasha Basu, followed by the romantic-thriller Aashiq Banaya Aapne with Sonu Sood and Tanushree Dutta.
