Tabu Controversies

  • 1998 Blackbuck Poaching Case: Tabu became linked to the 1998 blackbuck poaching case while filming Hum Saath Hain in Rajasthan. Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam Kothari, Tabu, and Dushyant Singh were accused in connection with the case involving the killing of two blackbucks near Jodhpur. On April 5, 2018, a Jodhpur trial court convicted Salman Khan but acquitted Tabu, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam Kothari, and Dushyant Singh, citing insufficient evidence against them. The Rajasthan government later challenged their acquittal. The matter involving the state’s challenge was still before the Rajasthan High Court and was being considered alongside Salman Khan’s appeal against his conviction. Tabu’s 2018 acquittal therefore remains an important fact when discussing the case.
