Jackie Shroff Early Life and Education

Jackie Shroff Early Life

Jackie Shroff was born Jaikishan Kakubhai Saraf and grew up in a humble chawl in the Teen Batti area of Malabar Hill, Mumbai. His father’s family had once been linked to trade, but they lost their money in the stock market, leaving the family to face financial struggles during his early years.

Before fame found him, Jackie was known in his neighborhood as a local tough guy, often getting into street fights to protect his friends and community. It was here that he earned the nickname “Jaggu Dada.”

The name “Jackie” itself came from a school classmate. Years later, when filmmaker Subhash Ghai cast him in the hit film Hero, the name stuck for good.

Money troubles forced him to discontinue his education after the 11th standard. He took up odd jobs to get by, working as a travel agent at a local company called Trade Wings, while also attempting to land jobs with Taj Hotels and Air India, both of which turned him down.

His big break came by chance. An accountant from an advertising agency spotted him at a bus stop and invited him for a photo shoot, leading to modeling assignments for suit shirts and Savage perfumes — and setting him on the path to Bollywood.

Education

Jackie Shroff dropped out of school after completing his 11th standard due to severe financial constraints within his family.

The couple married on 5 June 1987, her birthday, and later went on to run their own media company, Jackie Shroff Entertainment Limited, together.

Ayesha Dutt was a model before she transitioned into film production, building a career alongside her husband both on and off screen.

Jackie Shroff and Ayesha Shroff have two children: Tiger Shroff and Krishna Shroff. Their son, Tiger, is the elder child, and their daughter, Krishna, is the younger child.

  • Tiger Shroff was born as Jai Hemant Shroff on 2 March 1990 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He is an Indian actor and singer who works mainly in Hindi films. He made his acting debut with Heropanti in 2014.

Father

His father is Kakubhai Haribhai Shroff, a Gujarati trader and astrologer whose family had once been prosperous merchants. They lost their wealth in the stock market, forcing Kakubhai to leave home at just 17.

He met Jackie’s mother, a Turkmen refugee who had fled Kazakhstan, when both were teenagers, and the two married and built their life together in Mumbai.

Despite the hardships he faced, Kakubhai always believed his son would become a star one day, a belief that Jackie himself struggled to share during those difficult years, but which eventually came true.

Mother

His mother is Rita Shroff, born Hoorunnisa, of Turkmen-Kazakh descent. Her family fled Kazakhstan and eventually settled in India, where she later met and married Kakubhai.
